Obviously that wasn't your issue as the casing of your code matched the html you quoted. I was just mentioning it as something to be aware of (not just for you, but also anyone that might be reading this thread as it is public after all).
The control needing to be focused before setting the value attribute might be a specific requirement for this website and/or the framework it is using. I've not investigated it any further. Hopefully doing so will resolve the issue for you as well.
